We had a lot of companies asking for Single Number Solution (SNS) and there were numerous questions around it. How does single number solution work? How expensive is it going to be? Does it make sense for my company to go for it? I will try and answer these question and also explain how single number solution will work in this post.

How does Single Number Solution work?

Any operator (like TATA, Reliance, Vodafone, Airtel, or BSNL) will block a 8 digit land-line number for you across India. You need to choose all the cities/telecom circles you run your business when you opt for this. You can add circles at a later stage when you launch business operations in that region.

SNS Diagram

The above diagram will give you a fair idea on how it works. You will have to bear a call forwarding charge of ~ INR 0.5 per minute to land the call at the central location. After that if you have an EPABX or PRI line then you will not have to bear any further incoming call cost. In case, if you are using a cloud solution like Exotel then local call forwarding charges will be applicable.

How much does a Single Number Solution cost?

You will end up spending around ~INR 2500 (Estimate) per circle in case your call volume is about (4000 minutes per circle incoming). These may vary depending on operator and currently available plan.

Who should use a Single Number Solution?

Most of the companies I know who have opted for SNS are Consumer Facing businesses with Pan India operations. One of the reason you would opt for this solution is to build a identity for your brand using a number. JustDial will be a classic example and their SNS number is 6999 9999. There are other companies like Dish TV, TATA Sky and McDonald’s who have also opted for this solution.

Hope I helped.
